Geschreven door A brief introduction about the Court Street 1 stories on my blog. I started writing down this series of stories after the birth of our oldest daughter Dewi. It is a collection memories of the years between 1980 and 1995 in the last century when we had our family business.
‘Service is our strength’ was written above the front door. We sold radios, televisions, washers and dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, we installed antennas and satellite dishes, we also sold computers and peripheral equipment. Sales, installation, service and repairs were part of our daily work.
From those days I have written down over 100 stories as a reminder of those times. Non of them is fiction, but names of customers can be left out or changed. Primarily the bundle of stories was intended as a gift for my father when I bundled all the stories in a book. My father passed away in May 2021 and now the stories are being rewritten and shared online on this website, meant as a small monument to everyone who worked together with us in our store, as well as to all the customers we were privileged to serve.
The name of the street: ‘Hofstraat 1’, is translated to ‘Court Street 1’ for all of the English versions.
Court Street 1 was our small family business where everyone was welcome. Social Media could very well be invented there, with lots of coffee and cakes.
